I have spent the last 2 days searching diligently for some friends of mine (and Laura's) that I lost contact with in the past few years. Since our last contact, phone numbers have changed and it's been a chore attempting to find them. And the thing is, I could have driven there and found them sooner (I feel sure) than finding them online and through family members - which happened to be final step before I reached them.
So, this morning I got back on that task and around noon today, I finally heard the voices I was interested in hearing. And oh, how good it did my heart! I could have talked all day. It was such a wonderful feeling!
After I finally talked to both of them, I called my mom and Laura to tell them the news. Mom was just relieved that I'd quit calling to tell of my failures - I think I was driving her crazy about it! I finally called after about 15 times to tell her that I'd been successful! I felt like some weight had been lifted right off my chest. Every time Mom has answered the phone for the past two days, her greeting has been, "Did you get them?" LOL!
Recently while I was home in Alabama a week or so ago, I was reading through a long list of "Life's Rules"(or something like that) that still hang in my old bedroom. It's been there for ages. I left it there when I moved. I read through it every time I go back. One of the last things that is written there is "Rekindle old friendships!" So, between having that phrase stuck in my head and posting that song "Count on Me," it was just too much to ignore.
It's such a rewarding task! I promise you it will make your week if you try it....just like it has mine! So, now that I've experienced such a pleasurable day, let me encourage you to do the same. Call a friend you haven't talked to in a while. It's easy to get so caught up in daily life and totally forget the ones that matter.
So, Tina and Tosha, welcome back to my world! To you who read my blog on a regular basis, I just wanted to introduce you to the ones who have inspired me! These are the individuals that I was referring to from my teenage years on the post with the "Count On Me" video. They are a mother / daughter team and I love them to pieces.
Now, my heart is finally satisfied. My goal has been achieved. And I'm so grateful!

And I, too, am glad you finally got up with them! I would love to see them again. If we ever get a "girls" day in Sevierville, maybe they could meet us and we could spend some time together. Sounds like a plan!

We definitely have tons to catch up on. Yesterday evening Laura and discussed some of the wonderful memories we had of you guys. One of them was laying around in the basement one night because we were all so burnt from swimming that we couldn't move. We were so miserable!
Somehow she also remembered Furman making us grilled cheeses for breakfast on Saturday morning! I have no idea how she remembers this. LOL!

Count on me through thick and thin
A friendship that will never end
When you are weak, I will be strong
Hoping you to carry on
Call on me, I will be there
Don't be afraid
Please don't hate me when I say
Be strong
I can see it's hurting you
I can feel the pain
It's hard to see the sunshine through the rain, oh
I know sometimes it seems as if
It's never gonna end
But you'll get through it
Just don't give in 'cause you can
Count on me through thick and thin
A friendship that will never end
When you are weak, I will be strong
Hoping you to carry on
Call on me, I will be there
Don't be afraid
Please believe me when I say
Count on, you can count on me
(oh yes you can)
I know sometimes it seems as if
We're standing all alone
But we'll get through it
'cause love won't let us fall
Count on me through thick and thin
A friendship that will never end
When you are weak, I will be strong
Hoping you to carry on
Call on me, I will be there
Don't be afraid
Please believe me when I say
Count on
There's a place inside of all of us
Where our faith in love begins
You should reach to find the truth in love
The answers there condesend, oh
I know that life can make you feel
It's much harder than it really is
But we'll get through it
Just don't give in
Count on me through thick and thin
A friendship that will never end
When you are weak, I will be strong
Hoping you to carry on
Call on me, I will be there
Don't be afraid
Please believe me when I say
Count on
